Ms. Melissa Martin is the Orchestra Director at Moultrie Middle School. Prior to teaching in Charleston County, Ms. Martin taught eighteen years in Lexington District One in Lexington, SC. She earned her Bachelor's of Music degree from the University of South Carolina and her Master's of Education; Emphasis in Creative Arts in Learning from
Lesley University, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her performances include those with local rock and roll bands, the Augusta Symphony, Long Bay Symphony and various chamber groups.

Ms. Martin's orchestras received superior ratings and awards. She has been a guest conductor for the SC Lowcountry and Upstate Region Orchestras. She has also been a guest artist and clinician for various arts programs including the Tri-District Arts Consortium in Columbia, Gateway program​​ in Dorchester District Two, All County Orchestras in Berkeley County, Horry County and Richland One. Ms. Martin has served as Secretary, Treasurer and All-State Chair for the South Carolina Music Educators Conference. She was selected as Teacher of the Year in 2008 in Lexington and named the 2013 SC Orchestra Teacher of the Year in Charleston in 2013 through the American String Teacher Association.​
